About katherineapreston

I never get tired of looking at plants. My scientific research is in the area of plant physiological ecology, specifically the way plant form constrains or influences plant function. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of teaching introductory botany many times, and I love to see what happens when people start to look at plants closely, with patience, attention, and curiosity.

    Hello Botanists in the Kitchen,

I just want to say that I am so excited about whatever you all are cooking up!! I love your blog SO much– I have every post printed and categorized, and have been working my way through them, learning and loving it!

I run an alternative micro-school, and one of my missions has been to combat what you call “plant blindness” -I have a multi-year mission to create curriculum around the story of the plants that sustain our lives, and your work here has helped me immensely- the intricate knowledge without losing the love and joy, and then bringing it into a tangible experience in the kitchen- so inspiring and masterfully done.

    Thank you!!!

    Molly
